About VMCRA

About The Virginia Mini Cup Racing Association Inc.

The Virginia Mini-Cup Racing Association Inc. is one of the oldest and largest mini-cup divisions on the East Coast. We were formed in 1996 by a group of racers with a dream of providing AFFORDABLE, FAMILY ORIENTED, yet COMPETITIVE racing, and we have done so! The VMCRA Inc. is a NON-PROFIT Association that puts race money back where it belongs… in the hands of the racers. From our humble beginning with only 6 cars, we have grown to a nationally known and respected Association that continues to grow each year! We sanction 17 – 22 races per season at several tracks with varying sizes and layouts. We put you under the lights at tracks such as Southside Speedway, Concord Motorsports Park, Motor Mile Speedway, Shenandoah Speedway, Orange County Speedway, Friendship Speedway and many more. We maintain an official Points Championship and a Rookie Points Championship, just like Nextel Cup where each and every driver is recognized at every event as well as at our Post Season Awards Banquet. Cash prizes are paid to EVERY position at our events with last place receiving at least the entry fee in most cases. At the Awards Banquet, every driver is again recognized with a trip to the podium to receive trophies, cash and or prizes consisting of new parts / race wear, etc.

The VMCRA provides a detailed set of rules for each new season keeping our cars as close to “stock” as possible. When we say stock, we mean it! No machining, porting or polishing is allowed, so you don’t need the extra money to send your motor off to the

machine shop. We also have a “sealed engine” program that is surpassed by none. Our tires last multiple seasons, we pump the fuel used at every event, and we don’t limit you to name brand parts. We take the money and “know how” equations out of our division and leave the racing to chassis setup and driver ability.
We supply competent tech and track support personnel at every event to assure our rules and guidelines are followed to the letter and that each member receives the same professional support and service. Post race inspections are done following every event with penalties (points and/or cash) for any infractions.
Racing Affordable, Cheating Expensive!

We are also very “family oriented”.

We are more like friends than competitors at the track. Our pits have yielded many lifelong friendships. Each driver is always there and willing to help his fellow racer with anything needed. The pit road atmosphere is so at ease that our wives, girlfriends, children and even Grandparents often accompany us to the track, keeping our sport something for the entire family to enjoy regardless of age. Our teams consist of father / son, brothers, best friends, and even husband and wife. Many sons spend the first few years “turning wrenches” for dad before getting a mini-cup of their own. We guarantee that you won’t be treated better or feel any more at home than with the VMCRA Inc.

The level of competition within our Association is unparalleled. Due to the VMCRA rule package, the performance of our cars / engines, the quality of our tracks, and the professional ability of our teams and drivers, each race is filled with door to door, bumper to bumper racing action. Most every lap of our events are full of challenges for position as well as lead changes.

We have seen different winners each week which also have included many first time winners. With racing this close, many of our events are decided on the final lap and our final points battle usually isn’t determined until the close of our final event. When you race with the VMCRA Inc, you show up at the track with a legitimate chance at a great finish!

And the answer is yes. With high car count, tight rules, and great tracks, we do

sometimes make contact with each other or the wall. As mentioned on our About Mini-cups page, the cars are safe and our drivers walk away.
